In
the late 1970's, Joe LaRagione traveled to the USA to work six
months out of the year in a restaurant. When returned to Italy
he would always tell his sons, Franco and Sal, that one day he was going to open his own restaurant in the United States.
Franco and Sal asked, "Why the US and not Italy?", and
their father explained that the USA was the "Land of
Opportunity".
In
1981, Joe LaRagione's
dream came true and he
opened his own restaurant.
In 1984 he brought his
family to America to start a new life. After operating a very
successful restaurant and pizza parlor in Milford, Delaware,
Joe decided to send his sons Franco and Salvatore to open Mama
Maria's in Dewey Beach, Delaware in 1993. Since then, Joe has
been proud of the successful family restaurants that he and
his family have built. The culinary team has over 15 years
experience. Franco and Salvatore LaRagione are executive chefs from The
New England Culinary Institute, and Brian Knutson is the Sous
Chef.
